Couples Counseling, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Mindful Eating & Nutritional Psychology, & Psychotherapy
About L. Rebecca Connell, LCSW
|

My integrative approach looks at mental health as something that occurs in a context…within our physical body, whose cellular, deep wellness supports our mind…within relationships and community. Ultra-geeked out on the current research on mindfulness and on nutrition and mental health, I love to read research for fun. While I'm very excited about what I learn, I always see you as the expert on your experience. Mindfulness and self-compassion are the ground from which other things can grow.
Leslie Rebecca (Reba) Connell, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, CA LCS 19814, CO
CSW.09930492, Certified Integrative Mental Health Professional, teaches Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Nourish Your Mood: Meditation and Eating with the Brain in Mind classes. She offers online therapy in California and Colorado.
She is a Certified Gottman Method Couples Therapist, a rare distinction earned by select therapists engaged in intensive study of couples’ research and practice.
She has completed several levels of study in teaching Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, including a professional training program under the direction of Dr. Saki Santorelli and Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn and a training in teaching Mindful Eating, through UCSD.
She offers therapy in English and Spanish. Ella ofrece psicoterapia y consejería en español para parejas, adultos, adolescentes, y la comunidad gay y lesbiana.
She is deeply engaged with science-based and traditional approaches to healing through food and self-care. Her trainings include Advanced Nutritional and Integrative Medicine for Mental Health Professionals; Mind, Mood, and Food: Optimal Nutrition for Body & Brain ; The Gut Brain; Integrative Medicine for Mental Health Conference; Preventing and Managing Chronic Inflammation: Special Focus: Nutritional Interventions; and ongoing consultation with Leslie Korn, PhD.
She is an Honors graduate of Brown University, where she focused on multicultural women's issues, and UC Berkeley, where she researched the connection between depression and pain in women at UCSF. She has been practicing meditation and yoga since 1999.
Finding mindfulness, movement, and food to make big differences in her own healing from chronic pain, she feels called to share what she is learning with others and to help people make their own discoveries. While focused on studying food for mood, sleep, and pain, she accidentally learned about the latest developments in the science of nutrition. She is committed to a feminist approach that honors all body shapes and sizes while collaborating in radiant wellness.
She enjoys sharing Energy Psychology, Emotional Freedom Technique (tapping), yoga, and Qi Gong. She is a member of Integrative Medicine for the Underserved and the Association for Size Diversity and Health.
Classes, counseling, and educational materials are not a substitute for medical treatment personalized for your specific needs.
